INDICATORS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION IN COMBATING SOCIAL VULNERABILITY
Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) indicators and the reduction of social vulnerability, highlighting the importance of the topic given the persistence of social inequalities and the need for more effective public policies. The main objective was to analyze how these indicators can be used to promote social inclusion and reduce inequalities, providing support for the improvement of public policies. The research followed a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, searching the Scopus database and applying rigorous criteria to select studies that relate innovation and social impact, resulting in a final sample of 14 articles. The results revealed that indicators such as financial digitization and regional innovation indices have a direct impact on inclusion and the reduction of vulnerability, although challenges such as the "innovation paradox" and insufficient digital skills are evident. The study contributes to knowledge by demonstrating that STI indicators, when well applied and contextualized, can be powerful tools in building more inclusive policies that meet the needs of vulnerable populations so that they can fully exercise their rights. However, the study points to the need for more research, especially in Latin American contexts, to understand how these indicators can be more effective in different regions.
